It\u2019s these microscopic bits of copper known as \u201cschiller\u201d that give Oregon Sunstone the shimmering effect. Sometimes it appears as a \u201cconstellation effect\u201d as seen in the photo below on the left. Sometimes it\u2019s called \u201ccloud schiller\u201d as in the photo on the right, where it looks like little wisps or clouds across the stone.
